Smoked Balsamic Caramelized Onions

Smoked Balsamic Caramelized Onions

  • 2 Tablespoons Holy Smoke Smoked Olive Oil
  • 4 Medium Yellow Onions, Halved and Sliced
  • ½ Teaspoon Holy Smoke Smoked Sea Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Holy Smoke Smoked Balsamic Vinegar

  1. Heat the Holy Smoke Smoked Olive Oil in a 12-inch cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté for 5 minutes or until starting to soften.

  2. Add the Holy Smoke Smoked Sea Salt, reduce the heat to medium low and cook for 50 to 80 minutes, stirring every few minutes, or until the onions are very soft, golden brown, and caramelized. The timing will depend on the size of your onions and the heat of your stove. If at any point the onions start to stick to the bottom of the pan or brown too quickly, reduce the heat and add just a bit of water and stir vigorously.

  3. Once the onions are caramelized add Holy Smoke Smoked Balsamic Vinegar and stir to coat all of the onions.

  4. You can add these to burgers, steaks, omelets and just about anything that you want to add a bold delicious flavor to.
